We all know that saving money in the short-term helps us in the long-term, and when it comes to booking a holiday, anything you can save at the booking stage, will help you have a better time when you finally jet off to your destination.

Grabbing a cheap package deal will certainly make you smile, but how many times have you seen a deal on the internet, got excited about it, and then noticed that the flight is from a London airport, and when you try to change it to a more regional airport, the price shoots up? This is unfortunately a common occurrence, and unless you live close to the capital, you’re going to have to add travel time onto your day in order to get to your airport.

Now, I’m not going to deny that this can be a bit of pain if you live far away, but if you’re in that middle section, or maybe you don’t live particularly close to any airport, it could be worth looking into the cost of driving down there and booking airport parking.

I’ve done this countless times, and I recently did it when taking advantage of one of those cheap package deals, which I saw advertised in passing whilst I was surfing the web. I booked Stansted Airport parking to go alongside my package, and the amount I saved certainly put a smile on my face, even with the added cost of travelling to the airport.

I guess the point I’m trying to make is that you shouldn’t let a slight inconvenience put you off, in fact you could easily turn this extra time into something positive, with maybe a stop along the way to an attraction you always fancied visiting, or simply giving yourself more time to enjoy your journey in a more leisurely way. The money you save will definitely help you when you’re away, making it more possible to book extra excursions, or giving you more financial freedom to head to that shopping centre you liked the look of, to pick up a few souvenirs to take home.

So, the next time you see that package deal advertisement and your fingers are twitching, edging towards the ‘book’ button, don’t be disheartened when you look at the cheapest airport available, in fact, embrace the challenge and see the positives – money saved is money in your pocket, and money in your pocket equates to major enjoyment in your destination.
