This past weekend we took a quick visit to an annual event, the Clay County Agricultural Fair. This was the first time going there and won’t be the last.
The Clay Country Fair consisted of staple events: dizzying rides, food vendors, live entertainment and some kind of agricultural showcase. But Clay’s County Fair literally had, from what I’ve ever seen, a huge exhibit of livestock. The place was quite literally overrun with cows, chickens and swine. The bovine exhibit had a variety of cows, but wasn’t as impressive as the pig exhibit, which was quite literally deafening. Find a sample video with the squealing pigs (poor pigs), and below you’ll find all the entries and their clever names.
Something else to note is that each animal entered has been raised by kids in farm-raising school programs. And each animal donated to the livestock exhibit will be slaughtered and donated to soup kitchens across northern Florida (hope the kid owners didn’t go so attached to them).
